these days I wonder if such a song would be considered a political controversy, or if it was back then. This song just hits the nail on the head for so many people, even today I think

The written, and much longer version of this song has to be the book "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.

I found this a very moving story, about the poorest class's in the Great American Depression and their daily troubles.

A good recommended read for anybody.............. Shocked Shocked

Thanks for that Michael. I have never searched for that before or even knew about it, but it echo's what I read in the book.
I realised the pain these people felt and the hardships they suffered at the hands of the more wealthy land owners.

"Another day older and deeper in debt" was normal in those days for many.......great book, worthy of the Nobel Prize indeed..... Sad Sad
